International Desk: SecureTab works as both a chlorine neutralizer and coloring agent to improve vaccination methods. SecureTab is an effective and easy to use tablet to neutralize chlorine and other water quality factors to increase vaccine viability. The blue colorant in the tablet also allows to check over the distribution of vaccines during vaccination process.
Mass vaccination of a flock via drinking water or by spray is a simple and quick method of vaccine administration.
For diseases such as Avian Encephalomye litis, Infectious Bursal Disease, Newcastle disease and Infectious Bronchitis, oral entry is the natural route into the body, so oral vaccination may be the preferred route of vaccination. These disease organisms also grow and reproduce in the intestinal tract. Many variables can affect the success and effectiveness of water vaccination programs. Some factors are directly influenced by the birds themselves, some are influenced by the vaccine and some are influenced by equipment and techniques used to supply the vaccine to the birds.
Major concerns in drinking water vaccination
Live vaccines are particularly susceptible to Ultraviolet light, Heat, Heavy metals, Chlorine, Disinfectants and detergents, Organic matter 30 (litter, feed) and Moisture.
Protection from inactivation of Live vaccine
Important issues to consider are correct handling, storage and mixing of the vaccine. Other factors like residual sediment (bio film) in the water lines and filters will inactivate the vaccines. Failure to protect the vaccine may lead to partial protection of the flock. Other water quality factors play an important role in live vaccine viability like pH, presence of heavy metals and use of sanitizing products like chlorine Too high (>7.5) or too low (<6.0) pH can have a negative effect on the efficacy of the vaccine virus or bacteria. To prevent neutralization of the vaccine virus/bacteria drinking water must have a neutral pH.
Heavy Metal Existence or possibility of existence of Copper (Cu), Bromine (Br), Cyanate (Cy) Iron (Fe), Argentum (Ag), Mercury (Hg), Zinc (Zn) can result to direct failure of vaccination process.
Chlorine is added routinely to drinking water as a disinfectant, at a dosage rate of 0.5-2.5 ppm (part per million) to make the water drinkable. At this concentration, chlorine is a strong inactivating agent for live vaccines.
Chlorine is a bactericidal at 0.1-0.2 ppm. and a virucidal agent at 0.3-0.5 ppm of free chlorine Chlorine levels as low as one ppm (1 gram per 1000 liters of water) or contamination with heavy metals can lead to inactivation of the vaccine virus. The active chlorine concentration in drinking water is very unstable and often can reach extremely high levels. The taste and smell of chlorine cannot be used as indicator to evaluate chlorine concentration. It appears only at the level of 0.4-0.5 ppm, which is higher than the bactericidal or virucidal effect of chlorine Oxygenated water has a strong antimicrobial effect therefore the oxygenating system should be switched off at least 48 hours before vaccination.
Therefore, before the administration of live vaccines, all free chlorine in the water must be neutralized, in order to protect the vaccine’s organisms. Traditionally, poultry growers, for the neutralization of chlorine and protection of live vaccines, use powdered skimmed milk at the rate of 2.5 gram per liter of water.
Why SecureTab?
SecureTab is an effective and easy to use chlorine neautralizing effervescent tablet which works as an effective chlorine neutralizer and buffering agent to maintain near neutral pH of drinking water.
SecureTab is used to protect live vaccines against inactivation by chlorine. SecureTab also quenches toxic heavy metals and maintains water quality by softening the water. Moreover, Secure Tab contains a food grade blue dye, that allows the administer to check the distribution of the vaccine solution when it goes through the drinking lines and it colors the tongue and the crop of vaccinated birds blue. If upon inspection, 90% of the birds have the blue color 3 hours after the start of administration the vaccines have been correctly administered.
Benefits
∙ Easy to dissolve effervescent tablet.
∙ Leaves no residue.
∙ Neutralizes up to 5 ppm of chlorine in water.
∙ Has a buffer effect on the pH to maintain a near neutral pH.
∙ Works as a water softener.
∙ Distinctly colors the feathers, beak, tongue and crop.
∙ Food grade dye.
∙ Enables evaluation of vaccine uptake.
Instructions
Calculate the amount of water required based on number of birds, type of vaccines and season.
Drop 1 SecureTab tablet per 100L of water, and the tablet will dissolve within 2 minutes, resulting in a clear blue solution.
Stir and wait for 10 minutes to ensure complete softening, heavy metal quenching and pH stabilization Add desired vaccine, medicine or probiotics and stir to mix thoroughly feed solution to the birds. Evaluate the vaccination process by sampling birds from all ends of the house.
Indications
To stabilize water for mass vaccination with live vaccines and to neutralize chlorine and monitor vaccination process.
Pack
Easy to use dispenser with 50 individually wrapped tablets in an easy to tear pouch.
50 tubes of 15 tablets in a bucket.
